The faculty of the Department of Economics consists of ten full-time academic staff, of which three are professor and a associate professors and nine are assistant professors, as well as eight research assistants.
Currently, the Department of Economics maintains two different undergraduate programs of education, namely normal and secondary (evening) programs. As of Fall 2009, a total of 1001 students are enrolled in both programs, 546 in the normal and 455 in the secondary program. A one-year mandatory English preparatory school has been a requirement for the normal education program since 2004.
The Department has a Master of Arts program in Economics since 2001 and has a joint doctorate program with Kocaeli University since 2009. As of 2011-2012 semester, totally 58 students are enrolled in these graduate programs.
